Vermont Region
This
is the south western central region of Vermont, which includes Manchester,
known for retail shops, outlets and restaurants.
Viking Nordic Center (802-824-3933,
www.vikingnordic.com) in Londonderry, VT provides 35 km of groomed trails
through woods and open ields, best suited for intermediates, but with
some advanced trails, too. This is one of the oldest cross-country centers
in North America. Viking has many amenities for xc skiing families and

The Stratton Nordic Center (802-297-4114,
www.stratton.com) at the Sun Bowl has 20 km of tracked cross-country
trails and 50 km of backcountry skiing. Skiers can use the Sun Bowl
Lodge for rentals, dining and lounging. Lessons and guided tours are
available.The Stratton Mountain County Club has terrain that
is ideally suited for first timers and families. It is on the Stratton
access road and has a retail shop and rental equipment for xc skiing
and snowshoeing.
Equinox Resort (802-362-4700,www.equinoxresort.com)
in Manchester Village, VT offers xc skiing on the Equinox golf course
and on Equinox Mountain on scenic property in the Taconic Range above
the village of Manchester. The resort is a grand hotel in the New England

Hildene Ski Touring (802-362-1788,
www.hildene.org) ) in Manchester Village has 15 km of trails through
the pine-covered historical estate of Robert Todd Lincoln. There is
a warming hut in the carriage barn, with rentals, trail tickets and
light refreshments. CCSAA member
Grafton Ponds XC Center (802-843-2400,
www.graftonponds.com) is in Grafton, VT on Route 121. It has 30 km of
groomed trails, lessons, rentals, sleigh rides, ice-skating and retail.
The xc ski center is linked to the Old Tavern in Grafton has 47 rooms
and restaurant, where Emerson and Thoreau have visited. The center has
snowmaking for the early season. CCSAA member
Wild Wings Ski Touring Center (802-824-6793)
in Peru, VT is a family xc ski area with 20 km of groomed trails, rentals,
